i’ve grown quite fond of trying to find scenes that aren’t the typical grand vistas that so many only look to photograph. i was on my way up to flattop mountain in rocky mountain national park on this morning when i turned around to see the sun rising over a cloud inversion in the valley. i stumbled around on a rock in order to line up the sun where i wanted among the trees. having finally settled on fifteen different spots for the sun, i photographed them all. but none moved me as this one does.
