on 9/1/2021, the BLM will proceed to round up 783 mustangs from the Sand Wash Basin in colorado. 733 will be sent to holding pens and offered for adoption by the public, while fifty will be returned the basin. the government pays $1000 to the adopters of the horses who in many cases have illegally turned around and sold them to slaughterhouses. of those 733 that aren’t given the opportunity to return to their home land, some will die a quick death. others will die a long, drawn out death living in incredibly crowded pens of other mustangs. some will make it to adoption and be given a good home, but the majority won’t.
