sometimes mother nature has no respect for my limited time at a location. (for those of you with no sarcasm detection, please turn on your sarcasm detection and re-read the first sentence) i only had one morning to view dead horse point state park, and was hoping for at least decent light from miss nature. as it was, i was reminded once again that the world does not revolve around me or my wishes.

as blue hour tones dominated the scene , i found this tree partially illuminated by the sliver of light showing through the low clouds. hope - we have hope of light! unfortunately, this was the best the light got on this particular morning, and any images of the vast landscape viewpoint here were flat and boring. but i’ve come to appreciate the less popular to rarely seen viewpoints of these famous locations. i’m sure this tree has been photographed on many occasions, but never (or rarely) with this light while the blues of blue hour still enveloping the landscape. the blue sky and haze only adds to the somber feeling of a solo tree in a landscape image for me, while the sliver of yellow sunlight trying to warm the day adds a touch of hope.
