this photograph was made on one of my favorite mornings photographing. the soft morning light was seemingly softer due to poking through holes in the forest canopy. i spent a large amount of time here on this morning, exploring the reflective marshy pool below, watching the light as it changed. there were wildflowers among the forest floor, reflections of that soft light on the leaves throughout the water and smells of humidity permeating the area.

this forest is gone.

it was destroyed by the east troublesome fire, and so was that capability for the beautiful light on the transparent leaves.
