one of my favorite times of the year in the mountains is late spring/early summer - the peak of the snow runoff in the mountains. you’ll find areas of water rushing like they won’t the rest of the year, or perhaps won’t run at all once fall hits. you can hear the rushing water all throughout the mountains, which oftentimes requires a short side hike to see what’s making all the racket. the sheer power and beauty of the water is incredible, then factor in the canyons that have been built and will continue to widen and deepen because of these water particles whizzing past me and you have an incredible thought.
i came upon this scene - the wave, where the water will likely never move like this again. i was struck by the white stripe down the middle of the darker water - it’s akin to the white “paintbrush mistake” that runs the length of my dog’s black nose. as an abstract image, i’ve taken some liberties with the colors, and i must say that this image looks good rotating 90 degrees forwards, backwards and even with a 180 degrees backwards rotation. (not forwards)
